There is bad news on the weather front for Irish holidaymakers heading to Spain or Portugal for their Easter holidays.
Most schools are off next week as we lead in to the Easter Bank Holiday and many families take the opportunity to escape the Irish weather for a bit of sun abroad.
That may not work out for some heading to Spain or Portugal, according to weather expert Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather.
He posted a rather wet-looking weather model for both countries with the ominous caption: “Heading to Spain or Portugal this week in search of some sun and a break from the rain? I’m afraid it is looking as wet if not wetter for many parts of both.”
The models show some widespread rain in both countries while other Carlow Weather followers posted pictures from the continent.
One man shared a very overcast picture from Portugal where he is attending the Moto GP event.
He described it as “incredibly muggy and warm but since Friday a Calima sort of cloud as been around. Seen local news warning of a lot of rain this week. Thankfully I go home tonight.”
Here in Portugal for Moto Gp Alan now. Incredibly muggy and warm but since Friday a Calima sort of cloud as been around. Seen local new last warning of a lot of rain this week. Thankfully I go home tonight pic.twitter.com/RUDLCew0nD
